DDHT 3/15 Date: 26 Nov. 1858
[from Scope and Content] Probate copy of the will of William Irlam of Preston, gent, made 4 Jul. 1855. -- To Grace, wife of W.I., for life, all household goods and furniture in W.I's house at the time of his death, also rents and profits of an estate of lands and buildings in West Leigh, now in the occupation of John, Richard and William Barton, nephews of W.I., also interest on a sum of £940 lent to Robert Bilsbrough of Preston by W.I., on mortgage of houses in Bedford Street and Byrom Street, Preston. To J.B., R.B., W.B., Robert Houghton of Lowton, chemist, and Alice and Nancy, R.H's sisters and heirs, as tenants in common, after G.I's death, household goods and interest on aforesaid sum of £940. To Mary Garstang, niece of G.I., for life, after G.I's death, rents of aforesaid estate in West Leigh, and after N.G's death to J.B., R.B., W.B., and heirs as tenants in common. To R.H. and sisters Alice and Nancy, and heirs,; four houses in Pemberton, two pews in Standish Church, as tenants in Common. To R.H., watch and clothes. To J.B. and R.H., and heirs, W.I's trustees, residue on trust; three houses in Leigh Street, Chorley, rents of which to Thomas Rigby, son of Charles Rigby of Worthington, for life,; after T.R's death to trustees to sell or retain, proceeds of sale or rents to brothers and sisters of T.R., in common; £250 to Richard Irlam, son of Thomas Irlam, and nephew of W.I., £200 of it to be invested for his use; £150 to Mary Service, wife of William Gervice, and niece of W.I. £100 of it to be invested for her use, and after her death to her daughter; £150 to Ellen Ormandy, sister of Mary Gervice, £100 of it to be invested for her use, and then to her daughter; £50 to Ann Irlam, niece of W.I.; £100 to Charles Rigby of Worthington promissory note for £100 owing to W.I., by Thomas Ellison of Liverpool to T.E's son when 21.
